Born 24th October 2000, he lived with his father & litter brother before ending up in rescue due to him “fighting with his brother” & apparently chasing a pony until it collapsed from exhaustion.
He went into rescue in 2003, with a burst blood vessel in one eye.
A family were waiting for a dog that was happy living outside as a pet/guard. Baxter was chosen, as he had already spent some time as an outdoor dog. They had a property with a business attached. Anyway, Baxter stayed with them for a couple of weeks, was sent off to the groomers and looked fabulous. He was great with the family but no good as a guard dog, he was too soft and didn't bark at the gate, so reluctantly, they returned him.
He did well in kennels, wasn't stressed and was a favourite with the staff and GSD rescue helpers. He always liked to have a run around in their exercise area and have a game of football. Apparently he was a bugger with other dogs and pulled like a train on the lead!
It wasn’t long after his return that he was given his last forever home.
